Volcanoes erupt, destroying all plant life. Epidemics spread, afflicting Hunters and Scavengers alike. Each round, one of 36 disasters strikes, causing chaos and impacting the game rules. These scenarios create strategic puzzles for players who thrive on adapting to an ever-shifting environment and like to think on their feet.
Nature Has Other Plans
Everyone wants to control their own destiny, but sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. Natural Disasters introduces hand-painted watercolor disaster cards and a new watering hole environment. These 36 disasters remain in play for 1 to 5 rounds—watch out when they stack up!
"Natural Disasters reminds us of our insignificance—no matter how hard we fight, some things will remain outside our control."
Cardboard vs. Digital: Key Differences
While we wanted to keep the experience as close to the tabletop original as possible, we did need to make a few tweaks to some of the scenario cards to have them work better in the digital game. Specifically, when the game calls for a choice of which species to kill population on, we changed the text to make the choice automatic. This prevents needing to ask each player which species to choose in multiplayer games and slowing the game down. These are some of the changes:
- Volcano:
- Tabletop: Choose 3 population to kill from among your species.
- Digital: 3 population are killed from each Player's highest population species.
- Tsunami:
- Tabletop: Each player kills all the population from one of their species.
- Digital: All population is killed from the lowest population species for each player.
- Radioactive Meteor Shower:
- Tabletop: Rearrange the traits of the player to your left any way you choose.
- Digital: Randomly scramble each player's traits in play.
- Excluded Scenario:
- Tabletop: The maximum number of traits a species may have is doubled.
- Digital: This scenario is excluded as it could not be displayed in the current UI.
Other than those, the remaining scenarios are the same.
